Dr. Learner specializes in child and adolescent neuropsychological evaluation of individuals age 6 years through college age with a variety of learning disabilities, attention disorders and neurocognitive and neurodevelopmental issues including:

  • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

  • Executive function impairment

  • Memory impairment

  • Learning disability (reading, math, written language)

  • Language-based impairment

  • Autism spectrum disorder

  • Cognitive impairment due to head injury

  • Cognitive impairment due to low-incidence developmental disability

  • Associated emotional disorders subsequent to neurocognitive issues

 

Dr. Learner also provides consultation services to parents and young adults to help guide diagnoses,  treatment considerations and negotiating the special education process. He can assist in creating practical 504 accommodation plans for public school and post-secondary education.

What to Expect

The intake appointment is for parents/guardians only so that background, concerns and issues can be freely discussed. Please bring your completed paperwork as well as previous testing and other documentation (such as recent report cards, and the most recent IEP, etc.).

 

Testing days usually run from 8:00 a.m. until approximately 12:00 p.m. over two sessions. If you are running late and need to contact me, please call 508-654-4554.

Neuropsychological evaluations include:

  • Intake

  • Evaluation (2 sessions)

  • Collateral contacts up to 1 hour

  • Review of related documents

  • Feedback session with parents and a written report

Neuropsychological consultations:

  • A one-hour session will be billed to the family.

  • Record review will be billed at same hourly rate, or prorated if less than one hour

 

 

Payment

 

Dr. Learner an out-of-network provider for insurance purposes, meaning that that he cannot bill insurance companies directly. Many plans will reimburse you after payment has been made, but you will have to pursue this on your own. Dr. Learner will provide you necessary paperwork such as an itemized bill.  Your payment to Dr. Learner is required in full on the last date of testing.

About David G. Learner, Ph.D.

Dr. Learner holds a B.A. from Clark University. He received an M.S. in clinical psychology at Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia and completed his doctoral degree in school psychology at Northeastern University. 

 

Dr. Learner completed a pre-doctoral internship at Franciscan Children’s Hospital in Boston and post-doctoral training in child neuropsychology at Massachusetts General Hospital North for Children in Salem, Mass. (formally known as North Shore Children’s Hospital). He then worked at the Center for Learning and Attention Disorders in Portsmouth, N.H. as a staff neuropsychologist.

 

Dr. Learner subsequently worked for several years in Massachusetts public schools. His roles included district neuropsychologist for the Reading Public Schools, school psychologist for the Silver Lake Regional School District, and most recently as a school psychologist for the Belmont Public Schools. He has also maintained a private practice in Natick, Mass. since 2000.

Please download, print and fill out the Developmental History Form below, as well as the Informed Consent Form. Then please scan and email the completed forms as attachments to davidlearner36@gmail.com or bring them, along with previous testing and other documentation (recent report cards, and the most recent IEP, etc.), to the intake meeting. This initial meeting is for parents/guardians only so that background, concerns and issues can be freely discussed.
